Cape Chamber’s ASK platform delivers for members
Our recently expanded ASK service is gaining traction, with multiple queries received over the past two weeks since the launch earlier this month.
The value of the service lies in the Chamber’s ability to seek out relevant information, or connect members with relevant stakeholders to respond to specific queries.
A notable case in point is the Chamber’s response to multiple trade queries regarding the newly announced zero-tariff treatment on South African exports to China. With the policy having officially commenced on May 1, local exporters faced operational confusion due to a lack of published guidelines and a delay in the issuance of formal Certificates of Origin (COOs) by the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
The ASK team also intervened in a serious matter involving business extortion, which continues to wreak havoc across the regional economy. The Chamber was able to activate its security network, successfully connecting the targeted member with high-level law enforcement authorities.
Additional queries received included concerns about a registered company name, as well as requests for a map/list of economic activity in township areas. In both instances, the ASK platform was able to direct members to the relevant organisations, resources, and attorneys for guidance and support.
We call on our members to utilise the service, which aims to leverage our extensive network to help resolve queries both big and small. The platform provides a vital conduit for rapid problem-solving.
